Has Christmas lost its significance?
(Click Here for more information and to see a video preview)

It's one of the most familiar stories in human history: the birth of Jesus in a lowly manger in Bethlehem. A Savior, which is Christ the Lord. Yet, how can we prepare our hearts to celebrate the birth of our Savior in our frantic, consumer-driven society? How do we make sure the Christmas holiday remains a Holy Day?

In each of these four sessions, you will experience cinematic short films that capture events surrounding the birth of Jesus Christ. Then Pete Briscoe will open up scripture to bring us back to the roots and heart of our faith in Christ. These sessions can serve as an Advent for the Christmas season.

This Savior is Born Experience with Pete Briscoe includes:
  • 4 video-driven sessions with teaching from Pete (approx 12 min each)
    • Session 1 - Hope
    • Session 2 - Peace
    • Session 3 - Love
    • Session 4 - Joy
  • 1 Leader's Guide to facilitate questions and Bible study

In these four video sessions, viewers will experience cinematic short videos that show Abraham living in the 21st century. (Click Here for more information and to see a video preview)

Morning after morning, we get up to the same routine, the same job, the same chores, only to go to bed and repeat it all the next day …the next week … the next month. What would it be like to live the epic adventures we see in movies?

In these 2 video sessions, Donald Miller shares the important principles good storytellers use to make a story meaningful. He shows the power of storytelling being used in the Bible to teach significance and purpose. In his trademark humorous and personal style, Donald challenges viewers to become the heroes of their own story and make their lives count.

But when we stop and study Scripture, the culture we live in faces the same problems as the early church.

NOOMA: Rain

Things don't always work out the way we want them to, or the way we think they will. Sometimes we don't even see it coming. We get hit with some form of pain out of nowhere leaving us feeling desperate and helpless. That's the way life is. Still, it makes us wonder how God can let these things happen to us. How God can just stand by and watch us suffer. Where is God when it really hurts? Maybe God is actually closer to us than we think. Maybe it's when we're in these situations, where everything seems to be falling apart, that God gets an opportunity to remind us of how much he really loves us.

The Five Love Languages

Words of Affirmation
Mark Twain once said “I can live for two months on a good compliment.”  Verbal appreciation speaks powerfully to persons whose primary Love Language is “Words of Affirmation.”  Simple statements, such as, “You look great in that suit,” or “You must be the best baker in the world! I love your oatmeal cookies,” are sometimes all a person needs to hear to feel loved

Aside from verbal compliments, another way to communicate through “Words of Affirmation” is to offer encouragement.  Here are some examples: reinforcing a difficult decision; calling attention to progress made on a current project; acknowledging a person’s unique perspective on an important topic. If a loved one listens for “Words of Affirmation,” offering encouragement will help him or her to overcome insecurities and develop greater confidence.

To learn more about this Love Language, take a good look at Gary Chapman’s best-selling book, The Five Love Languages. Click here.
