Team Update

The Kabiye team is currently working with 18 churches and 3 teaching points throughout Kabiye land. The past couple of weeks saw the birth of a new church in Soumdina Po Wayi and the roofing of the church building in Lassa Tchou. Our team will suffer a big loss as we say 'goodbye' to the Dolingers who return to the States next week but we will be gaining summer interns (9 of them) who will be arriving as Brian and Christy leave. The political situation continues to remain quiet and peaceful in Togo for which we are all thankful.

David, Becky, Hannah, Elijah, & Gabriel Reeves-- kabiye4christ@yahoo.fr

Greetings! Things in Kabiyeland are plugging along and we praise God for the many ways we've seen Him at work in the past few weeks. David has had encouraging teaching times in Legue Legue and Bodowda and played mediator and instructor with some of the leaders in the Kara church who have had some personal problems this last week. Becky continues to enjoy the women's lessons she is teaching and had an especially rewarding teaching time in Po Wayi with Tracey last Friday as they taught on Cleanliness in drinking water and on Jesus being the Living Water who satisfies every thirst in our souls.

We got our vehicle back last night after being without it for a month and a half. A mechanic in Lome' has been working on our car, along with the Neals', and Millers' for the past couple of months. Although we are happy to have it back, it arrived needing a new battery and without the air conditioning in working order. We are extremely thankful to the Tabligbo team for allowing us to use their teacher's vehicle for the past month and half so that we could continue to do work in the villages. We are currently raising money for a new vehicle as the repair costs this year alone have been well over $10,000.

Our children have had a wonderful school year and were sad to see Brian and Christy Dolinger leave to return to the states. They have been extremely wonderful teachers and we are so grateful to the Lord for sending them to us. Hannah and Elijah are looking forward to their one day a week of summer school that Becky will be teaching with Tracey before we leave on furlough at the end of June.

We look forward to hosting our summer interns from Harding, Pepperdine, and Boston University this year. They will be arriving at the end of the week. Please pray for them as they live with our team this summer. May God bless each of you! Our prayers are with you!

Bryan, Tracey, Isaac, Graham, & Owen Ries-- btries@kabiyemission.org

Greetings everyone! We are thankful that everyone in our crew is healthy and happy. Well, happy for the most part as we are all very sad to see Brian and Christy leave us. The boys have benefited so much from having them as their teachers and we've loved having them as friends and teammates.

The other big news from the past two weeks from our perspective was the birth of the new church in Soumdina Po Wayi. Last Saturday (May 21st), 11 people professed their faith in Christ and were reborn in Him. This group had already been meeting on Sundays to sing, study and pray before their baptisms, so we are hopeful that their enthusiasm will continue to gain momentum and spread to others in their villages. Please pray for this young church, that it might grow strong and remain true to the Way.

The same day of the baptisms, Bryan was able to do some leadership training in Tchikpe, visit a brother in Lassa Tchou and had the unexpected pleasure of meeting a Christian from N'Djei on the road. It was a fun day and it reminded us of how much the Kingdom is spreading through Kabiyeland, and how much more room there is for growth!

On a sad, tragic note, a couple from the Tchikpe church lost their 5 month old baby to yellow fever. Bryan was in the village the day she died and was able to help the church encourage them. Please pray for Koffi and his wife as they deal with this loss and for the church to give a strong witness of God's love.

Please pray for our family over this next week as we will be separated by travel. Bryan will be in Accra for most of the week to have some work done on our truck, see the Dolingers off and to pick up our summer interns. That means Tracey will be holding the fort down all by her lonesome. Please pray for safe travels and peaceful, cooperative children at home.

Thank you for lifting us and our work up in prayer, it helps! May our Lord bless you richly this week. In Christ - The Rieses

Brian and Christy Dolinger-- dolingerbc@yahoo.com

It's hard to believe that our time is coming to a close and that this will be our last contribution to this newsletter. We have just finished our last day of school and have wrapped up with many exciting activities, which included a pre-k evening at our apartment, and another first grade sleepover. This year has been such a blessing to us. We have enjoyed being a part of the lives of this team. We have witnessed all the children
growing so much, both academically and physically. Kara, Togo and the Kabiye mission team will always hold a special place in our hearts. It's hard to imagine jumping back into the routine of life in the states. We
have really enjoyed the slower pace and closeness that has developed between each other and our friends on the team. Thank you for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers.

Brett and April Emerson-- emersonstogo@yahoo.com

God continues to bless us daily!!! This past week we were able to hear the heartbeat of our little one. Each day we are learning new things about the development of our baby. We are continually amazed and praising God for His child that is being knit together in April's tummy. (Remember, all this is new to us since we're not baby-making veterans like our teammates).

We enjoyed a special weekend with Brett's family in Montgomery, Alabama and spent time with the Millers on our way back to Memphis. Thanks to Stephen and Jennifer Presley and family for another round of hospitality and good times. We always enjoy their company and sweet children. Brett especially enjoyed a jet ski excursion with Matt.

Our weekend in Montgomery actually had a dual purpose, as we were invited to spend some time with the Grace Pointe Church of Christ. We enjoyed our worship and fellowship time with the brothers and sisters there, and we were able to have an informal lunch with a few of the members from their missions committee. It was a very positive meeting, and we ask you to pray for God's guidance as Grace Pointe considers a possible role for our work with the Kabiye.

Our summer schedule begins this week with Brett finishing his in-service hours at school and joining April in the church youth office at Sycamore View. Please be praying about our time with the teens this summer. Our July will be a full month with time at home adding up to only 6 days. We pray that you are recognizing God's blessings and enjoying times of refreshing from Him!

Matt, Andrea, Abigail, Aidan, and Asher Miller-- miller@harvestfields.net

We have moved on from Colorado back to Birmingham for a two week visit with our overseeing congregation, Homewood Church of Christ. We are staying with our missions committee contact people, the Presleys, who have graciously opened their home to us. Abby and Aidan are especially enjoying reconnecting with the Presley's children, Savannah, Stephanie, and Daniel, who came to Togo along with a group from Homewood to visit last March. We enjoyed a special treat this past weekend when Brett and April were able to join us and the Presleys for an afternoon at the lake.

Along with making reports to the church, we are making last minute preparations for our return to Togo. We will be leaving on June 16th, and would appreciate your prayers for our travel. We are eager to return to Togo to be with our teammates and the Kabiye Christians and to continue the work to which God has called us.

We can still be reached by phone up until our departure. Our numbers are: Matt- 205-281-0235 Andrea- 205-283-2513 Call anytime!

With love, The Millers

Don, Jane, Mary Claire, Peter, Rachel, & Honor Neal-- togoneals@yahoo.com

This past couple of weeks have been largely uneventful for the Neal family. Don has spent much of the time recovering from his motorcycle accident. The repair to our truck has been delayed a week, so we are still limited to Kara by our transportation woes. Don was able to ride his bike to Lassa Tchou on Wednesday to see about their progress on their building. May God be praised that their building is completed, except for the cleaning and leveling of the inside floor. The Christians there plan to start meeting there in the next few weeks. We thank God for blessing them with the determination to not be discouraged after one of the walls melted and fell in the rain. Please pray for Jean Marie, who came down with a severe case of malaria after working alone for an entire day putting the roof on the Lassa Tchou building. He spent three nights in a village hospital receiving IV fluid, all paid for by church members. The doctor told him that he would have died had he waited another day to come to the hospital. Don plans to travel to Lome this coming Tuesday and Wednesday to pick up our vehicle. Pray for safe travel and true healing for our vehicle.
