The unexpected harvest continued this past week as 16 people (pictured left) were baptized in Soumdina Po Wayi. We praise God for the work He is doing through the Kabiye churches. The Kabiye team is currently working with 18 churches and 4 teaching points throughout Kabiyeland. Don, Jane, Mary Claire, Peter, Rachel, & Honor Neal-- togoneals@yahoo.com
The Neal family has had a good week, full
of traveling and friends spending the night. Don went to Lome on
Wednesday to take Matt Miller to the border with Ghana. Then Don stayed
for two nights while a mechanic did some work on the truck. Don passed
the Rieses on their way to Accra on Friday on his way home. Isaac and
Graham Ries spent Friday and Saturday nights with us while their parents
and little brother went to Accra. The kids had a great time.
Don rose early on Saturday morning to drive
a hearse. The wife of the chief at Sanda Te passed away this
past Tuesday, and the family asked Don if he could help them by
transporting the body from the hospital to Te on the day of the
funeral. Don spent most of the day Saturday socializing with people
from Te and the chief's family from all over Kabiye land. It was an
interesting day, full of Kabiye culture and making connections with
families of many of the Christians at Sanda Te.
May God bless you this week. The Neals.
Regan Peek-- reganpeek@hotmail.com So we just finished our second week of school, and it was great. We are getting into a nice little routine, and I'm having a lot of fun. We learned the names of some foods in French, and made some menus using our new words. We are progressing nicely with the recorders, and learned how to play "B." We are memorizing Psalm 24 and just learned a song about Western Europe. The pig pen is finished, and the pig should be delivered tomorrow! How exciting. I also made tortilla chips, guacomole, sour cream and salsa from scratch this week, which made me really happy. We will have conferences this week, so all of the parents will get updates, if there's anything they don't already know! Thank you for the continued prayers and support. God bless! David, Becky, Hannah, Elijah, & Gabriel Reeves-- kabiye4christ@yahoo.fr
Greetings friends and family. We have
finished our time down in the great southern state of Arkansas and in the
state of Tennessee and have had a wonderful time. We spent time down on
the farm visiting with Becky's great uncle and aunt and were able to
really relax in a special way as it was so quiet and secluded from the
normal business of our lives here. We also were blessed to spend time
with our good friends Jason and Anita Killins. Our kids hung out with
their kids and had a great time. We head back Sunday for Washington State
and the remainder of our time there. God bless each of you and thanks so
much for your prayers and support. If you feel like talking our cell is
205-281-0235. Love ya, The Reeves
We are continuing to raise funds for
a new vehicle. If you would like to help in this way, please sent any
funds to the Richland Church of Christ, 933 Thayer Drive, Richland, WA and
put "Reeves truck fund" in the memo space.
Bryan, Tracey, Isaac, Graham, & Owen Ries-- btries@kabiyemission.org Our family has had a great week. We were blessed to have Andrea McCadams, a school psychologists from Tennessee, stay with us. She was here to evaluate Graham and to give us help on how we can help him have success in learning. Graham was a trooper through the testing and we were all pleased to hear the positive prognosis Andrea gave in her initial evaluation. Bryan and Tracey enjoyed a couple of days with Owen in Accra after they took Andrea back for her return flight. (And, Isaac and Graham, enjoyed a couple of days at the Neals. Thanks Don and Jane!) Out in the villages, this past week was highlighted by the 16 baptisms which took place in Soumdina Po Wayi. Most of those who were baptized were ladies who had been attending worship and Bible study for some time now. Praise God for these new siblings in Christ. Bryan was also able to attend another evangelistic lesson in Tankoda. They are nearing the end of their study there, so please pray for hearts to accept the Truth of God’s word and for many to be saved. We thank you for your prayers, love and concern. May God bless you this week. – The Rieses Brett and April Emerson-- emersonstogo@yahoo.com We celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary and April’s birthday this weekend. Brett surprised April with a stay at a local Bed & Breakfast, a trip to the zoo, and tickets to Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. It was a full day of activities in addition to reminiscing about the last 4 years together. It’s hard to believe that when we got married, our teammates had already been in the field for a year. We look forward to celebrating our next several anniversaries in Togo. This is a special anniversary for us as it is the last one for just the two of us. Next year we’ll have a little one to find a babysitter for. We will be celebrating April’s 27th birthday today with family, and we will also be meeting our new doctor here in Montgomery on Friday. Please pray for a healthy pregnancy report. We love you and God bless! Matt, Andrea, Abigail, Aidan, and Asher Miller-- miller@harvestfields.net
Matt made the
trip to Searcy, AR this week. He had been asked to come to Harding
University to spend time recruiting for the Africa-wide internship. He will
be there for two weeks (through September 23rd) and will be staying with
Monte and Beth Cox. They have him very busy already. Pray that the Lord
will use him greatly in these two weeks to recruit and encourage students
toward Africa missions.
